...AS A STUDENT IN WINCHESTER.
Would you consider yourself impulsive?
Some might call me impulsive, but I promise the decision was rational.
On this typical Saturday, I woke up, had a shower and as I was about to dry my hair I was thinking about how I've wanted it shorter for a while. As a student on a budget, did I want to spend money (£30 or more) at the salon just to take off about 2inches? No, not really. I was prepared for a money-saving mission💰. With a steady hand and a good enough eye, I took great care to remove the excess length myself.
Has the word disaster popped into your head, did you panic a little?
Worry not, I did the sensible thing and stopped cutting when my hair looked even enough and I was happy with the length, leaving the front pieces alone from the last time I had been to a hairdresser (months ago).
With this new trim, I decided to go to a salon in Winchester called Davis Hair & Beauty to seek professional assistance and get my ends checked, plus to get some styling done in the front (styling I wasn't prepared to do myself).

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"HAPPINESS IS A GOOD HAIR DAY."
I came to university with my hair grown out at the longest it has the capacity to grow and since, all I wanted to do was cut it. I'm a swimmer, therefore, long hair has always annoyed me! Growing up I always wore a bob and I felt ready to go back to my roots.
After my successful money-saving trip to the salon, I went for a walk around the city centre. It was market day so the streets were busy, and walking around was difficult. There were lots of people who didn't seem to notice me in front of them and carried on as if they wanted to bump into me; unless I'm the one that moves. It happens everywhere I go, such as West Quay, Southampton; like a game of disorganised chess.
I popped to Sainsbury's to get a pack of Oat and Raisin biscuits to snack on, as well as a Ham and Pineapple Pizza for the evening as it was a Saturday night BGT (Britain's Got Talent) was scheduled on TV.
In preparation for my Monday morning wake up, I also grabbed a smoothie to stock my fridge with and decided to pass Starbucks on the way back to uni. I tried a new order today and put it on my Pinterest board because I liked it THAT MUCH:

There are some really beautiful places to walk just around the corner from the West Hill Cemetery by the university, I enjoyed my refreshing Starbies and the views, wisely using my alone-time as an opportunity to take some photos.
By now you might be wondering what my hair actually looked like after the salon trip?
Overall l am really pleased with how it turned out, however, this post is not me recommending anyone else impulsively cutting their hair and then expecting it to be cheaper when you decide to get the finishing touches done at a salon. Otherwise, you could end up paying more money to fix a huge amount of issues and the hairdressers will have their work 'cut out.' 😆
If you're confident enough that your first result is going to be decent and fixable for neatening up when you go to the salon, then you will save money; I am still able to tie up my hair as before and the hairdresser framed my face well. Very happy.
Goes to show you can never know what a day will bring until you live it. Living this day and writing this blog post was completely unexpected, however, the day was eventful and felt worthy of having a page to itself.
How was your day? #yourwinchjourney #blogger #student #universityofwinchester
Until next time, Tilly x
